The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs will not legalize a degree from an Australian university unless the notary provides evidence that the degree has been awarded by that university.  Some universities provide an online search to verify that the degree was awarded.

If the university does not provide an online search facility then you will either need to obtain a letter of verification or a verification email from the university confirming the degree or take the original to the university, have it copied and have the university place a signed and stamped verification on the copy.

If you need to obtain this type of verification it may take time to organise so allowance needs to be made for this.
